This is where the rubber hits the road. The installation process is often regarded as the most daunting part of a landscape installation, but it doesn’t have to be. Proper planning, coupled with highly trained personnel that specialize in each step of the installation process, is what separates us from the rest of the pack. Rest assured, you are in good hands during the installation process and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have along the way.

Site Preparation

The first step in the journey is preparing the work site for the more exciting steps of planting trees, building walls, and installing patios. It is also usually the last thing thought of when coming up with the concepts of what you like and don’t like, but it is the basis of a great landscape.

  • Site Plan

A detailed layout of your project to gain an understanding of elevations, locations, and placement of the different elements in your project

  • Site Clearing

Removal of plant material, old drainage systems, and any other obstacle that may hinder the project at a later date.

  • Rough Grading

Existing soil must be properly graded and any additional fill dirt or topsoil that is needed will be hauled in and graded.

  • Excavation

Areas where foundations must be poured or a base material installed must be properly excavated and, if needed, excess dirt hauled will be hauled off site.

Hardscape Installation

This is often considered one of the most exciting steps on the path to your dreamscape. Building the walkways, patios, and walls in your landscape design is often the first time major progress is seen. As these features are installed, the overall design begins to take form and for the first time, the scale of the project is visible.

  • Base Installation

Compacted aggregates must be properly installed and compacted. This is the most important step to ensuring long term stability in your project.

  • Walls

Decorative and load bearing walls must be installed to local building codes to ensure they are safe and can handle specified loads.

  • Concrete

Concrete patios and walkways will be poured to specified thicknesses and finished for proper traction when walking on them.

  • Pavers

Interlocking pavers will be installed on a bedding layer according to the pattern specified on the plan.

Irrigation Installation

The unsung hero of any beautiful landscape is the irrigation system. Outside of the care you provide, this single system is responsible for ensuring your plants, trees and lawn receive enough water to survive. Having the right irrigation system is just as important as having one in the first place. It should be custom tailored to your specific needs and have the ability to quickly change schedules based on weather conditions.

  • Controller

The controller is the base of the entire system and should be installed in an easily accessible area that is protected from the elements.

  • Valves

The electronically controlled valves that open to allow the water to flow should be installed in easily accessible areas.

  • Piping

Having correctly sized pipes is crucial to ensuring an irrigation system will have enough water to function correctly.

  • Heads

The right type of spray head for the area being treated is crucial to assuring your system operates efficiently without wasting water.

Low Voltage Lighting Installation

Low voltage landscape lighting is one of the most important parts of a balanced landscape. It provides texture to your home and landscaping during low light hours and also provides protection from burglars by allowing a passerby to see if something is out of place. Landscape lighting also provides valuable light to pathways, reducing the risk of a slip/fall accident.

  • Transformer

A transformer should have the proper power to run your current system as well as have some extra capacity for future upgrades.

  • Wiring

Properly sized wiring will ensure that your lighting will shine brightly with minimal voltage drop.

  • Fixtures

Fixtures are the most visible part of the system and there are thousands of options to choose from.

  • Bulb

LED bulbs are a must have to reduce electrical consumption. LED’s also have greatly extended service life over halogen bulbs.

Softscape Installation

When most people think of landscaping, they’re actually thinking of softscapes. Softscapes are the color, texture, and attitude of a landscape that make it yours. In simpler terms, this is when we plant the “greenery” you’ve selected and put the finishing touches on the project. When this step is complete, you will have a finished landscape that reflects your vision.

  • Soil Preparation

Soil amendments are the foundation to a healthy landscape. They are tilled into the existing soil to increase nutrient density.

  • Trees

Trees are the anchors of your landscaping and they must be planted with a good eye for how to place them for maximum effect, while also considering the long-term growth habit.

  • Plants & Shrubs

The color and substance of a landscape. They are selected from growers with high standards for quality and planted with the highest level of care.

  • Final Steps

Edging the bed lines, mulching, and applying a pre-emergent are the finishing touches that will tie everything together.

Project Completion

Your project is now complete, and what a sight it is! This is our favorite part of a project, the part where we are able to hand you the “keys to the kingdom” and walk through everything we’ve been working on. You are now looking at the finished product of your vision and our hard work.

  • Walkthrough

Upon the completion of your project, a final walkthrough with both your Salesperson and Project Manager is performed to ensure that the project was completed to your complete satisfaction. We will discuss the future maintenance needs of your newly completed project and collect final payment at this time.

  • Follow Up

A few weeks after your project is completed, you will receive a follow up call to ensure that you don’t have any remaining questions about your project. We will e-mail you a survey about your experience working with Eddington Landscaping to ensure you were completely satisfied.

  • Testimonial

Testimonials are one of our most powerful tools, so please don’t be surprised if we ask you to leave a review about your experience on one of our social media platforms. Our business comes primarily from repeat clientele and referrals, so if you know of someone who may be interested in our services, please help us connect with them!
